| so, xanga. it's been forever and a day, right? i officially went to college. BAM! haha, seriously though. i now live at 101 Consitution Hall at Hofstra University. it's exciting. i had my first classes today. i'm taking an evolution course that touches through biology and anthropology and the professors are so open minded and non critical. it's amazing. but my english credits weren't accepted by the university, so i'm stuck with english comp 1... i can deal, i suppose. an easy english class isn't the worst thing in the world, right? anyway, my roommate, Jessica Brown, is adorable! she's blonde and somewhat opposite me (she goes shopping a lot, she's somewhat preppy) but we get along amazingly! her family is a military family as well and we have a ton in common. for once in my life i feel like i belong. and by belong i mean: i feel at home. it's such a great feeling. my dorm room feels like a retreat. that's all for now... maybe some later. ~ you were born, you were born to fly ~ wanda m. mercinelli | | |
| so workcamp is over and i am sad. well not sad, actually. my faith grew times 20 thousand, but i am nostalgic. i would love to be back there. Mahanoy City, PA isn't too bad. the people there are lovely and i loved my house.
it was so much fun as always to help rebuild houses. it's always a confidence booster.
here's the group looking lovely:

gorgeous!
anyway, i had a grrrrrreat time. it's back to reality with work tomorrow, but hey.. it's worth it. my bank account is starting to look healthy for college (thank goodness. i was worried for a bit). i hope all of your summers are going well!!!
~ i cry out to no reply and i can't see you by my side so i reach out to what i know. you're still here and i'm never alone. ~

| alright. so i got back from camp yesterday and i'm more tired than ever, but it was all worth it!!!! i love my counselors and my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ and every year it becomes even more and more of a testimony.
but putting that aside for a moment, i'm thrown yet again into my reality and have to go to work... but it's okay. 7 days until i go to WORKCAMP! i want to say thank you to everyone who supported me this year in raising money. workcamp 2007 is going to be awesome and i can't wait to help rebuild houses and lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyway, back to that "work" subject. i don't really want to go. i'm finding that the closer i am to August, the more i'm getting senioritis at work. if that's even possible... it's like "meh, they won't fire me. they only have 3 weeks left of me. i'm going away anyway." you know? grrrrrrrrr. i wish i could focus.
oh well, i'm out. i hope your week was awesome!

| hey guys. life's been pretty crazy recently.
i went to orientation at college and it was SO MUCH FUN! you have no idea.. i am in love with campus. anyway, i picked my classes and was totally excited for college until my textbooks arrived recently. now i'm a little bummed because they're roughly incomprehensible. then again, they're science books. anyway.. here are my courses:
Evolution through Natural Selection (Bio)/Evolution in Anthropology (Anthro) English Comp I (Eng) Western Civilization I (Hist) Youth, Crisis, & Culture (Soc)
i'm still excited because i started reading my textbook for the last course (sociology) and it's an actual book, not a textbook... it's a really good read.
anyway, i'm up at camp for the week, so if you want to send me a message and make me smile, write me an email to: mycamper@poconoplateau.org and put "Melissa Kroll, Youth Camp 612" as the subject title.
i love you guys!
~ Melissa

| it's been awhile hasn't it? let's have a brief bullet update:
- Happy Birthday Josh H.
- Happy Birthday Jon H.
- Happy Birthday Jade S.
- Happy Birthday Josh T.
- Happy Birthday Jordan G.
- Yay, finals are over.
- Yay, school is over.
- Yay, graduation was boring.
- Yay, we made it through our move in one piece. I'll send you my new address if you want it.
- Yay, I'm signed up for college orientation.
- Yay, I have a university email address and official account.
- Yay, I passed the Spanish placement exam with 70 out of 79 points and don't have to take a language at college for graduation requirements... I can take them for pleasure.
- Yay, SUMMER
So, now that the update is done.. onto the rant! I feel oddly nostalgic right now. Our new house is quite crammed compared to the old one and it's mighty hot up here. I'm not used to typing in the upstairs. I'm used to a cool basement. The major problem with heat and a computer is that my fingers are sticking to the keyboard and the mouse pad. Icky. Anyway, mother got surgery today and she's hobbling around like some gimp maniac. "Melissa, I can't reach this, Melissa, will you move that?" I dont' meant to complain... maybe I do. I know she can't use her arm, but it's slightly annoying having to be her concierge. I wouldn't mind if she only put forth an effort, but she's milking it for all she can get... some of us have lives, wouldn't you know? Oh well... she should heal quickly... Anyway, I feel horrible for neglecting xanga for so long, so I will sing you my new favorite song and give you a cartoon in hopes of pleasing my long lost journal.
"When I think back on all the crap I learned in High School, it's a wonder I can think at all. Though my lack of education hasn't hurt me none, I can read the writing on the wall." (an excerpt from Simon and Garfunkel's Kodachrome)
~ do you remember when we used to sing? sha la la la la la la la la la la dee da ~
